Who can assist with road safety on and around schools?
State and local government agencies are responsible for managing road safety issues around schools.
Transport for NSW
Transport for NSW provides information about:
- Safety around schools
- School zones
- Road Safety Education School Program
- School crossing supervisors
- School student travel - public transport
- Aboriginal communities
Local Council
Schools should contact their local Council for assistance to manage road safety such as:
- kiss and drop zones
- signage
- bus zones
- flagged crossings.

- School Infrastructure NSW (SINSW) Assets Management Units (staff only)
- Sustainable School Grants (SINSW) Funding is available to assist schools enhance sustainable practices such as active travel to and from school
- Risk Management Unit Work Health and Safety Consultants (staff only)
- Incident Report and Support Hotline - Health,Safety and Wellbeing (staff only)
- Legal services - Duty of care and behaviour management and Supervision advice (staff only)
- Road Safety Education Officer - local education support staff.
