Schools should consider their local circumstances when assessing and managing risks associated with bus interchanges.

This may include:

• undertaking and documenting a risk assessment focused on factors such as student arrival times, locations where students congregate, duration of waiting periods, ages and vulnerabilities of students, and the proximity to busy roads.
• reviewing whether existing supervision arrangements remain appropriate
• communicating supervision arrangements and safe travel expectations to parents and carers
• engaging with Transport for NSW and relevant bus operators about concerns relating to bus services, timetables or interchange arrangements
• considering whether additional reasonable precautionary measures are required to manage identified risks.
