Road safety: Engaging families during transition

Starting Kindergarten often means new routines, unfamiliar surroundings and changes to the way children travel. Families play an important role in helping their child develop the road safety knowledge, behaviours and confidence they need to travel safely to and from school.

Providing road safety information as part of transition to school programs supports a consistent and proactive approach to keeping students safe from the start of their school journey.

This drop-in session is designed for school leaders looking for advice, practical strategies and resources to engage families in promoting safe travel behaviours as children prepare to start Kindergarten. It supports schools to consider their local road safety context and school-specific arrival and departure routines
