Do you know what your responsibilities are?

The department's Curriculum planning and programming, assessing and reporting to parents K-12 policy (2025) states:

1.1.3 Road safety education is taught in each stage of learning in the Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) syllabus Kindergarten to Year 10 and the 25-hour mandatory course for stage 6 students, Life Ready.

The Road safety education procedures provide detailed direction and guidance for effective implementation of road safety education in NSW public schools, Kindergarten to Year 12. It also clearly explains roles and responsibilities for principals, teachers, students, parents and carers.

Do you know what content to teach?

Road safety content is found in the ‘Safe travel’ learning context (Life Ready course content page 10).

Suggested content is included for each learning context. Teachers should adapt and select content which best meets the needs of the students.
