Do you know what your responsibilities are?
The department's Curriculum planning and programming, assessing and reporting to parents K-12 policy (2025) states:
1.1.3 Road safety education is taught in each stage of learning in the Personal Development, Health and Physical Education (PDHPE) syllabus Kindergarten to Year 10 and the 25-hour mandatory course for stage 6 students, Life Ready.
The Road safety education procedures provide detailed direction and guidance for effective implementation of road safety education in NSW public schools, Kindergarten to Year 12. It also clearly explains roles and responsibilities for principals, teachers, students parents and carers.

Transport for NSW
Safety Town – an online road safety education resource for teachers, students and families. It provides a variety of interactive learning activities for students from K- 6. Teachers are provided with comprehensive teaching notes to support the use of the interactive activities, and support learning as part of PDHPE.

What professional learning is available?
Road safety education: Safer behaviours through PDHPE K-6 - This professional learning supports K-6 teachers to consider their students’ vulnerabilities as road users within the local school context, enabling them to address the specific risks and support student safety.
