Action planning
Action planning refers to the structured steps that schools and educators take to identify priorities, set goals and implement improvements.
Aligning with the School Excellence cycle
In Respectful Relationships Education (RRE), this process can be aligned to existing processes as part of the School Excellence cycle.
Situational analysis
Schools collect and review data about student outcomes, teaching practices and community needs to understand gender equality and RRE-related challenges in their context.
Priority identification
The RRE committee and leadership team use the RRE self-assessment tools and data to identify focus areas. These focus areas should align with the strategic directions outlined by the NSW Department of Education (for example, wellbeing, curriculum).
Goal setting
Develop measurable objectives and success measures aligned to RRE activities. Identify the evidence to be collected against each activity to demonstrate success.
Action plan development
Map out specific actions, timelines, roles and required resources. RRE action plans should include professional learning, curriculum changes, wellbeing initiatives, cultural or policy changes, peer-led interventions and consultation.
Implementation
The RRE committee lead the delivery of planned actions, monitor progress and make timely adjustments as needed.
Monitoring and evaluation
Schools collect evidence (data, surveys, student samples, teaching practice artefacts, assessments) to review their RRE implementation progress against their goals at regular intervals (for example, each term, mid-cycle reviews, annually). Adjustments are made based on findings.
Reporting and communication
RRE outcomes and key learnings are documented and communicated to the school community.
