Preschool excursions are conducted in line with Excursions Policy Implementation Procedures. An excursion is an experience or event when the children and educators leave the school premises.

Visits to the school are not regarded as excursions if the preschool is situated on the school site. For example, if a preschool group visits the school library on the same site, it is not an excursion.

Preschools located on a separate site, where children need to cross a road to access the school for example, should conduct a risk assessment to ensure adequate supervision. This is then considered a regular outing and only requires one risk assessment and permission note per year.
