Syllabus implementation | PDHPE K-10

Personal development, health and physical education focuses on encouraging students to think critically, solve problems and make informed decisions related to health, safety, wellbeing and physical activity.

According to the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA), students are expected to participate in PDHPE for:

  • between 1.5 and 2.5 hours per week in Kindergarten to Year 6
  • 300 hours over Years 7 to 10 in each of the years.

Use the information in this section to encourage student learning in PDHPE within supportive learning environments, department policies and best practice approaches.

Online self-paced learning

Modules use a blended approach to professional learning, including self-paced, online modules and school-based implementation tasks.

Teachers and leaders can pick and choose which modules meet their needs and complete at a time that suits them.

Face-to-face workshops

Face to face workshops are currently on hold. Virtual network meetings can be arranged by contacting the PDHPE K-6 or 7-12 Advisors.

Virtual professional learning opportunities are delivered regularly by the NSW PDHPE Curriculum team through the statewide staffroom.
