Part 1

Sample, read or download teaching resources: these programs are for stages 3, 4 and 5 and are supported by dynamic video resources presented by James Morrison.

Part 2

Register for the Virtual Excursion with James Morrison on Monday November 12th: James will guide the students through how to write a great melody and will emphasise that you don?t have to be a trained musician to compose a melody. He will also answer student questions suitable for stage 3-5 students and their teachers.

Part 3

Composition competition: students are invited to submit an original melody either as a written score, a performed piece or a hummed melody. Shortlisted entries will be sent to a team of judges in the United States and the winning piece will be performed at the International Jazz Day Global Concert 2019.

Entries for the composition competition close on December 7th, 2018. The winner will be announced early in 2019.

Sydney is the host city for International Jazz Day on April 30 2019 with a global concert and broadcast at the Sydney Opera House to millions of people in over 190 countries.
