  • Languages Stage 6 PL – school-based assessment

    The Languages and Culture team is offering Stage 6 school-based assessment in languages professional learning, NESA accredited for 2.5 hours.

    ​This course will enable participants to:

    • understand the requirements of school-based assessment in Stage 6 Beginners, Continuers and Extension language courses
    • implement a range of assessment strategies in Stage 6 Beginners, Continuers and Extension language courses
    • design an effective assessment task for Stage 6 Beginners, Continuers and Extension language courses.

  • Languages – new team members

    We're delighted to announce 2 new team members, who have been appointed on 3-year contracts with the Learning and Teaching Directorate – Coreena Allen and Marcela Ayas.

  • Languages 7-12 – Term 3 statewide Adobe Connect recording

    Thank you to all the language teachers who joined us for last week's Adobe Connect session, and especially to Renetta Wolfe from Denison College of Secondary Education for her fantastic TeachMeet on using My Storybook as an assessment of learning task. We all love when teachers share their classroom success stories with other teachers!

  • Languages – Stage 6 Extension support materials

    Stage 6 Extension support materials for the 2020-2024 course prescriptions for Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Modern Greek and Spanish are now available on our website (access via your language on the right-hand menu).

  • Languages – Stage 6 Extension workshop

    The Languages and Culture team, in collaboration with NSW School of Languages, has a organised a workshop for Stage 6 language teachers to introduce the new Extension course prescriptions for 2020-2024 and the related support materials developed by the NSW Department of Education. Teachers will also work in language-specific groups to develop supplementary support.
