Becoming mathematicians – Quantifying collections
This video explores critical components in the development of students' number sense from kindergarten to high school, including perceptual and conceptual subitising, number knowledge, spatial patterns, counting, cardinality, early additive and multiplicative strategies and counting principles.
Who should participate?
All K-8 staff wishing to learn about quantifying collections. The video is about 30 minutes long. You might like to watch it on your own or with your colleagues. If you are working with your colleagues, allowing at least an hour would provide you with time to pause the video to discuss key points and play with some mathematical ideas.
