Planning for learning using Best Start Kindergarten

Purpose

Planning for learning using the Best Start Kindergarten Assessment is designed to help you understand what the research suggests as the important early literacy and numeracy skills.

Who should participate?

Early stage one teachers and school leadership teams.

Teacher Relief Funding

Funding for teacher relief for up to 2 teachers will be provided to all schools with a Kindergarten enrolment. A maximum of four days will be provided at any one school.

Mode of delivery

Face-to-face (one day).

Content

This course helps teachers to analyse student strengths, identify patterns and find a starting point using PLAN2 and Best Start Kindergarten. Teachers will explore teaching strategies to differentiate learning for their context.

Completing this course will help you:

  • plan for targeted teaching effectively, using NSW syllabus and the literacy and numeracy learning progressions
  • create targeted quality teaching and learning programs from information gathered in the Best Start Kindergarten Assessment.
