Mathematics building blocks for numeracy

Purpose

This professional learning assists teachers to implement evidenced-based practices in support of improved student numeracy outcomes. There are four courses in the program - each course has an eLearning component and then a deliverable that is recorded in a participant journal.

Who should participate?

Kindergarten to Year 8 teachers.

Mode of delivery

eLearning.

Content

Completing this eLearning will help teachers to:

  • investigate the mathematical knowledge that is foundational to becoming numerate
  • explore evidenced-based pedagogies that promote effective teaching of mathematics
  • consider approaches to assessment that reveal student's mathematical knowledge
  • learn how to differentiate teaching activities to meet student needs.

There are four courses in the suite

Course 1: Effective mathematics teaching for numeracy development

Course 2: Learning progressions as a tool to support student numeracy development

Course 3: Principles of effective assessment

Course 4: Planning for differentiated learning

Register via MyPL. Note: Individual registration required for each course
