Best Start Year 7 eLearning 2 - accessing and analysing assessment feedback

This online course focuses on accessing and analysing Best Start Year 7 assessment feedback. The range of topics will help build understanding and confidence in the use of Scout and PLAN2 to access and analyse student observations following the submission of the assessments.

This online course is in preparation for ongoing professional learning to support schools to:

  • further analyse Best Start Year 7 feedback in Scout and PLAN2: identify trends, student needs and literacy and numeracy teaching priorities​
  • develop a plan of action and explore targeted teaching strategies.

Access, Analyse and Action (new to BSY7 in 2021)

This blended learning course provides support following the administration of the assessment and guides Best Start Year 7 teams through a detailed analysis of school feedback using Scout and PLAN2.

Who should participate?

Year 7 teachers and school leaders:

  • who are involved analysing assessment feedback

  • from schools participating in Best Start Year 7 for the first time in 2021.

Content

Participants will be supported to use their analysis to determine student literacy and numeracy needs and plan targeted teaching and learning to address them. School teams will explore teaching strategies and lesson plans aligned to skills assessed in Best Start Year 7.

Completing this course will help you to:

  • analyse your school's feedback

  • identify school trends, student needs and teaching priorities.

Strengthening practice (schools who participated in BSY7 in 2019 and/or 2020)

Participants in this blended learning course will use their Best Start Year 7 analysis to determine student literacy and numeracy needs and plan targeted teaching and learning experiences and activities. School teams will explore teaching strategies aligned to skills assessed in Best Start Year 7 and engage with a sprint model for focused teacher and student learning.

Completing this course will help you to:

  • analyse your school's Best Start Year 7 feedback

  • identify school trends, student needs and teaching priorities

  • develop a plan of action to respond to the school's Best Start Year 7 feedback

  • support teachers in all learning areas to implement targeted teaching strategies for literacy and numeracy improvement

  • use the PLAN2 Areas of Focus feature to support targeted teaching.
