Road safety education: Safer behaviours through PDHPE K-6

Two day workshop information:

Day 1 - Road safety education: Safer behaviours through PDHPE K-6 (RG01083)

Day 2 - Local schools: K-6 road safety education (RG02597)

At this two day workshop teachers will explore learning activities within a PDHPE K-6 context, and consider whole-school strategies to engage students and the school community in being safer road users.

This professional learning event is delivered as two single workshop days held several months apart to give participants time to share their learning from day 1 with colleagues, and discuss and prioritise actions for development at workshop day 2.

What you will get out the two days:

  • understand elements of the PDHPE K-10 syllabus
  • explore new resources to support effective teaching of road safety
  • receive free road safety materials for your school
  • review strategies to promote a whole-school approach to road safety
  • access opportunities for further professional learning
  • apply your understanding of the PDHPE K-10 syllabus to develop road safety learning experiences tailored to meet your students’ needs
  • localise resources to support the effective teaching of road safety
  • plan strategies to promote a whole-school approach to road safety
  • build localised support with a network of schools

Cost: Workshop costs are subsidised by the department’s Road Safety Education Program, which covers morning tea, lunch and workshop materials. One day casual teacher relief is available for each day if your school hasn’t previously attended. Additional teachers are welcome to attend with relief paid by own school.

Pre-requisites: Some pre-workshop activities are required prior to participating in both workshop days.  Details provided on registration.

Completing this two day workshop will contribute 10 hours of NESA registered professional development addressing 2.1.2, 3.3.2, 3.4.2, 6.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
