TAS curriculum HSC hub

The HSC hub has been launched to support teachers and students in preparing your students for their exams this year.

The HSC hub will also list general HSC information and study skills.

For TAS, the on-demand session ‘Study Day Software Design & Development’ will be made available by Aurora.

This site will regularly be updated as the catalogue grows.

Research methodology and analysing a research paper

An in-class presentation to break down a current research paper that covers both a biotechnology/agricultural technology.

Presenters will explain and model an HSC response. Teachers can access links to other research studies, sample annotated articles, HSC style questions with suggested responses.

Major design project

An in-class presentation for students (with teacher present) to look at updated marking criteria for folios and the opportunities opened by COVID-19 for folio production. A detailed description of updated requirements from NESA regarding multimedia inclusion and extra pages for 2020 HSC. An overview of the 2020 project and folio marking process. Discussion points available to teacher.

Using graphic solutions in examinations

An in-class presentation for students (with teacher present) to demonstrate advantages of using graphical solutions in examinations. The presenter works through examples to show method and advantage of using graphical over analytical methods to improve accuracy and save time in examinations. Teachers will have access to sample problems with worked solutions.

Contemporary nutrition issues

An in-class presentation for students (with teacher present) to look at one of the areas identified in HSC marker feedback as an area for improvement. The presentation will revise some of the content related to nutrition issues and demonstrate how to relate this to HSC questions to achieve better results. The presenter will also briefly review the use of terminology in the syllabus and how the correct use will lead to better demonstration of understanding. Teachers will have access to sample questions with answers.

An in-class presentation for students (with teacher present) to look at one of the areas identified in HSC marker feedback as an area for improvement.

This presentation-

  • revises some of the content related to desk checking algorithms
  • provides a worked solution to a HSC-style question
  • briefly reviews the use of terminology in the syllabus and course specifications
  • discusses how the correct use of terminology will lead to better demonstration of understanding.

Textiles to enhance performance

An in-class presentation for students (with teacher present) to look at innovations and technological advances in fibres, yarns and fabrics. The presentation explores technological advances in production, decorative and finishing techniques. It then examines the effects of these technologies on the consumer, manufacturer, employees and the environment.
