Design and technology Years 7-10 (2020 onward): Marketing
This marketing unit has been designed to fit within the context area of information and communication. Students design, produce and evaluate marketing material for a school event. The unit has been flexibly designed so that if the school or community are not holding a specific event, then students design, produce and evaluate marketing material for a previous products/projects that they may have previously made in the Design and Technology course.
The design problem has been written so that student work with a ‘client’, learning about effective communication with different audiences as well as issues associated with intellectual property. The marketing unit provides students the opportunity to gain skills in information and communication technology by using graphic and multimedia software to produce marketing materials and/or packaging. It has been written as holistic unit, allowing for the practical application of project work throughout the course content.
