Senior science is a multidisciplinary science course integrating:
- earth and environmental science
It furthers students’ knowledge and understanding of the physical world, living world, chemical world and earth and space strands of the K–10 course by engaging in first hand investigations to provide inquiry learning opportunities for students.
In senior science students explore science in a real-world context and how it connects to students' everyday lives. Throughout the course, students will develop an understanding of the history, nature, practice and applications of science across the established disciplines.
Senior science will not be offered in 2019. Investigating science is offered from 2018 onwards and is an engaging multidisciplinary course which focuses on science processes and methods.
The NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) senior science page contains support materials including a sample unit, assessment schedule and skills mapping grids.
