English – extension
The target audience of the English – extension courses is described in the English Stage 6 Syllabus. Additional information about each of the extension courses can be found on the NESA site.
The Preliminary and HSC English (Extension) courses enable students who are accomplished, analytical and imaginative in their use of English to refine their understanding and appreciation of the cultural roles and significance of texts. The courses are designed for students with a desire to pursue a specialised study of English.

In the HSC year, students who have studied Preliminary English extension are able to further their study through English extension 1 and/or English extension 2.
Extension 1 units of work
'In the HSC English extension course 1 students explore ideas of value and consider how cultural values and systems of valuation arise.' (English Stage 6 Syllabus, 2009, p 82)
