Music - Composition soiree - Stage 6 Music 1

Description: This professional learning for teachers is one in a series of four composition workshops which will examine and unpack creativity in the music classroom in stages 4 to 6. In this session, highly experienced Stage 6 music teacher Ms Fatima de Assis will cover the requirements for HSC Music 1 core and elective composition, unpack what a composition portfolio should look like, whilst also providing an insight into the many creative ways to approach preliminary composition activities. This workshop will also examine how best to support our students with limited notation experience and troubleshoot technological challenges that may present themselves in the composition process. This 90 minute online session through Microsoft teams will conclude with question time from participants.

Description: This course will provide opportunities to investigate and interpret the contemporary intersections between art and technology. Through an exploration of practical activities teachers will participate in the creation of animated artworks developing skills in Photoshop for animation lessons. This course provides teachers with the opportunity to engage directly with experienced Visual Arts and Photographic and Digital Media educators to further develop their knowledge and understanding of contemporary photographic and digital artmaking practice, and to support their implementation of the syllabus with recently released resources. It will support teacher capacity and confidence in explicit teaching of techniques to enhance and improve student outcomes in Visual Arts and Photographic and Digital Media.

Participants will be guided through the process of creating a simple animation from found and appropriated images using the ‘timeline animation’ feature in Photoshop.

Description: This online workshop will present ideas connecting the shifting democracy of contemporary photography, from sophisticated digital conventions to that of unpredictability in practice. Individual performance bump-in - Stage 6

Description: This professional learning session will provide teachers with strategies for 'bumping-in' the Individual Performance with their students in final preparation for the HSC drama practical examination. In this session, award winning actor, Anita Hegh, will share her expertise and approaches for making the most out of the final weeks of rehearsal before ‘opening’ a performance. In the first part of the session, Hegh will share her tips for solo performance, such as connecting with an audience, building character complexity, controlling pace and performance energy, and keeping a performance fresh. This presentation will be followed by a forum in which course participants can ask questions and share ideas about student development of the individual performance. The session will run for 90 minutes and will be presented online through Microsoft Teams.
