Stage 6 Dance – Approaches and insights

This module contains videoed interviews with students and their teachers focusing on the development of the various major study options in HSC dance. In the 8 teacher interviews, participants learn of the support structures and strategies used to scaffold and foster student achievement in the Stage 6 dance course, as well as reflect on their own teaching practice while gaining insight into approaches used by successful teachers in various school settings across NSW.

This professional learning module allows participants to build their understanding and skills in unpacking the key features and components of the Stage 4 & 5 syllabus including the elements of drama, the components of making, performing and appreciating, the cross-curriculum content and key competencies. New, out-of-field or teachers returning to the subject after a break, will further develop understanding of the features and requirements of the syllabus and gain skills in developing teaching and learning programs for effective teaching.
This online course will take approximately 2 hours to complete.

The Drama Essay - V2

Through this online learning module participants will engage with the syllabus and unpack the outcomes, and structure to identify and reflect on effective teaching and learning experiences when teaching the Drama essay component for Stage 6. Participants will be given interactive classroom activities and strategies from year 7-12 to promote practical and written learning opportunities in appreciating and critically studying. Participants will regularly revise and reflect on the elements of drama, drawing connections with the requirements and teaching and learning activities. Course activities are also designed to provide learning and collaboration opportunities for teachers to explore and establish individual goals by reflecting on their current classroom practice of the topic.

This module contains videoed interviews with students and their teachers focusing on the development of the various project and performance options in HSC drama. In the 13 student-focussed interviews, course participants learn about the unique journey of each interviewee and their intentions, choices and actions as they reflect on the process of refining their projects and performances. In the accompanying 11 teacher interviews, participants learn of the support structures and strategies used to scaffold and foster student achievement in the Stage 6 group performances and individual projects.

This professional learning event will allow participants to build their understanding and skills when unpacking the key features and components of the Stage 6 Preliminary and HSC Visual Arts syllabus. Participants will interact directly with the syllabus components of the Frames, Conceptual Framework and Practice by completing online learning tasks, before interacting with a series of teacher and student videos based on the teaching and learning journeys for the HSC Body of Work.
