Stage 5 - Stage 6 career learning

Stage 5 (Years 9–10)

In Stage 5, students build on their understanding of the world of work by developing the skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to make informed decisions about their future. Career education at this stage includes:

  • Work education and work studies
  • Authentic engagement with local industries and businesses
  • Workplace learning opportunities

These experiences help students explore career options, understand workplace expectations, and begin to shape their individual career and transition plans.

Stage 6 (Years 11–12)

In Stage 6, students refine their career goals and take purposeful steps toward post-school pathways. They are supported to make well-informed decisions about further education, training, or employment.

Career learning is embedded across curriculum areas through resources aligned with syllabus outcomes. These resources:

  • Enrich teaching and learning with career-related terminology and concepts
  • Provide opportunities for real-world application and exploration
  • Support students in developing detailed and realistic transition plans
