Students from the Dubbo Girls Academy met with Aboriginal Education and Community Engagement as part of National Indigenous Youth Parliament Week.
Dubbo Girls Academy visited Sydney on Friday, 21 April to attend an afternoon tea with the NSW Governor for the National Indigenous Youth Parliament Week.
Aboriginal Education and Community Engagement had the opportunity to meet eight girls from the academy prior to their meeting with the Governor to join them for a light lunch. This provided a wonderful opportunity to meet the girls, hear their background and their experience in the Girls Academy.
Students from the Academy were selected to fly to Sydney if they had outstanding attendance at school. Some of the girls had never been on an aeroplane before or visited Sydney so it was a special day for them. The girls, two of their mentors and two staff from Girls Academy shared where they were from and their career journeys and aspirations.
Aboriginal Education and Community Engagement looks forward to seeing what the girls achieve in the future.
