School Counsellor Sponsorship Programs

Applications for the NSW Department of Education’s School Counsellor Sponsorship Program are now open.

Approved teachers with the NSW Department of Education, be paid to study to become a school counsellor in a NSW public school. The School Counsellor Sponsorship Program offers a range of benefits and incentives including a full-time teacher salary whilst studying, payment of tuition fees and a permanent school counsellor position upon graduation.

There are two different programs, dependent on your current qualifications. Find out which one is right for you:

  1. Psychology Sponsorship - for teachers who will have completed the first two years of a three-year sequence of Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) approved psychology studies by the end of 2021, and who will be completing third year psychology studies by the end of 2022. Eligible applicants will be achieving a Grade Point Average of 5.5 or greater.
  2. School Counsellor in Training Sponsorship - for teachers who have completed within the last five years or who will have completed a three-year sequence of Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) approved psychology studies with a Grade Point Average of 5.5 or greater by the end of 2021.
