FASTstream

What is FASTstream?
The FASTstream program provides teachers with the professional development and support to fast-track their career to principalship within 10 years.

Who can apply?
Final year initial teacher education students and current teachers with the NSW Department of Education with any level of experience can apply.

Teach and Learn Scholarship - High Demand Subject Areas

What does the scholarship involve?
This scholarship supports current teachers to retrain in a high-demand subject area such as mathematics, physics, engineering studies, industrial technology or agriculture. Scholars are supported financially whilst studying, and gain a permanent teaching position in a high-demand subject area following successful completion of studies.

Who can apply?
Approved teachers in government and non-government schools with a minimum of one year full-time equivalent teaching experience (or 203 casual days) can apply.

Teach and Learn Scholarship - Specialist Teaching Areas

What does the scholarship involve?
This scholarship supports teachers to acquire additional competencies as a Teacher Librarian, Careers Advisor or English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) Teacher. Scholars are supported financially and receive a permanent teaching position in a specialist teaching area following successful completion of studies.

Who can apply?
Permanent and eligible temporary teachers with the NSW Department of Education can apply for this scholarship

Rural Experience Program

What is the Rural Experience Program?
The Rural Experience Program provides teachers with the opportunity to experience living and teaching in rural NSW through a short-term placement.

Who can apply?
Permanent, temporary and casual teachers with the NSW Department of Education who have over two years' teaching experience and Proficient Teacher accreditation can apply.

School Counsellor Sponsorship Programs

What does the scholarship involve?
These programs support approved teachers to become a school counsellor in a NSW public school. There are two programs available, based on a teacher’s current qualifications: the Psychology Sponsorship Program and the School Counsellor in Training Sponsorship Program.

Who can apply?
The programs are available to approved teachers with the NSW Department of Education who have begun APAC-approved psychology studies. You can read more about eligibility here.

Inclusive Practice in Education Scholarship

What does the scholarship involve?
This scholarship enables teachers to increase their skills and confidence in supporting students with additional needs.

Who can apply?
Casual, temporary and permanent teachers with a minimum of 12 months (203 teaching days) who hold approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education can apply. This is an incredible professional development opportunity for permanent teachers to enhance their skills while remaining in their current position. Casual and temporary teachers will receive a permanent teaching position on successful completion of studies.
