To be eligible to complete a professional experience placement in a NSW public school you must:
- be studying a NESA or AITSL accredited Bachelor of Education or Master of Teaching initial teacher education degree
- register for a placement to obtain your department Staff Portal login
- complete the following requirements
- present the completed certificates and your signed Pre-service teacher acknowledgement to the school prior to or on the first day of your professional experience placement.

This induction training only needs to be completed once. A certificate is provided on completion of this training. To access this training:
- Log into the Staff Portal from education.nsw.gov.au.
- Scroll down to MyPL on right hand side of page and select.
- Search for 'Child Protection Awareness'.
- Select the relevant training module.

This training only needs to be completed once. A certificate is provided on completion of this training. To access this training:
- Log into the Staff Portal from education.nsw.gov.au.

- Search for 'Aboriginal Cultural Education' or select 'Mandatory Training' from the top menu.
- Select, enrol in, and launch the relevant training module.

Pre-service teachers are required to demonstrate the correct use of an EpiPen or Anapen to a school staff member on their first day of placement.

Complete the training by following these steps:
- Register for an account on Geccko
- Login to Geccko
- Select and complete the module (allow at least 2 hours)
- On completion, save the certificate as evidence of completion
If required to complete, you must complete prior to your first day of placement.
The placement school is required to retain a copy of your certificate.
Recertification is required every 2 years.
