Using Tell Them From Me data

Tell Them From Me results provide schools with valuable insight into the engagement and wellbeing of their students and can be used as valid and reliable evidence for school planning, reporting and improvement.

How to use Tell Them From Me data

A practical guide for schools on how to use Tell Them From Me data identifies five strategies for school improvement, including teaching practices, student engagement and wellbeing. The strategies include:
  • Capturing the voice of students, parents and teachers and monitor results
  • Identifying key areas for improvement
  • Triangulating TTFM results with other sources of data
  • Implementing change in school practice
  • Reviewing TTFM results to evaluate the impact of new practices

These five practical strategies have been designed to assist school's use of evidence-based decision-making to respond to the needs of students.

The School Excellence Cycle

Tell Them From Me data can provide insights as part of a situational analysis of current school practices to inform improvement strategies as part of the School Excellence Cycle. Survey results can also be used to monitor progress and determine the success of improvement initiatives. In addition, data can be used to inform self-assessment against the School Excellence Framework with many Tell Them From Me measures directly aligning to elements of the framework.

Wellbeing Framework

Tell Them From Me supports the department’s Wellbeing Framework for Schools. Schools can compare their results year-over-year as well as against state norms and replica-school reference lines. The second snapshot student survey offers schools the option of asking open-ended questions customised for their communities.
