Anyone who has attempted poetry before knows how challenging it can be! Now imagine reading it out loud for the whole world to hear. And yet, these student slam poet legends make it look so easy.

Meet our champion slam poets!

  • Abdulah Sediqui from Punchbowl Boys’ High School was crowned as the annual Stand Tall Speak Out champion for 2019 – a first for the school!
  • Jihad Yassine, also from Punchbowl Boys’ High School, finished in second place with a heartbreaking poem about his late grandmother’s struggle with cancer.
  • Jasmine Logan, a 13-year-old Bundjalung woman from the Coodjingburra clan, is the youngest winner of Poets Out Loud slam.
