How can I get involved?

Applications to join the DOVES in 2022 are now open and close on Monday 22 November 2021. Read the information on this page before completing the Google application form.

Am I eligible to apply?

Students attending a NSW public school who are currently in Year 5 - 9 are eligible to apply.

There are 11 positions available to join the Council in 2022 in 7 of the 9 operational directorates. More opportunities will be available across all operational directorates in next year's application round.

Students join the Council for a period of two years with half the Council changing each year. There are three students representing each operational directorate. This will be the second year the council has been operating.

The application process

To apply you must submit a video of up to 90 seconds in length telling us who you are, why you are interested in being part of the Minister's Student Council and why you would be a great advocate for all students.

A panel will review all submissions and invite shortlisted applicants to join a short online video interview in Term 1 2022. The panel includes students currently on the DOVES Council and department representatives.

Students will be contacted about their application in Term 1 2022.

Creating your video submission

The video submission should be up to 90 seconds in length. You can film it on a smartphone, tablet, webcam or any other video device available to you.

Applications are reviewed based on the information you tell us and not the production quality of your video.

In your video you should:

  • briefly tell us who you are and what issues matter most to you
  • why you are interested in being part of the DOVES Minister's Student Council
  • why you could be a great advocate for all students.

Upload your video submission through the Google Form.
