Who we are
Engadine District Youth Services (EDYS) is a dynamic and creative space in the heart of Engadine, servicing young people and their families from across the Sutherland Shire. EDYS has been established in the local community for 43 years and is the longest running youth centre in Sydney.

What we do
Engadine District Youth Services (EDYS) delivers a range of programs and services to young people aged 12 to 18 years. We are committed to providing a youth-centred, trauma-informed service. EDYS gives young people access to experienced youth professionals who strengthen relationships, encourage development and promote independence. We provide access to information and resources and are passionate about creating positive and engaging programs for young people.
- EDYS Coaching and Mentoring program
This program provides individualised support to young people aged 12 to 18 years and includes one-on-one mentoring, goal-setting and practical life skills. It aims to build confidence and identity and demonstrate the power of positive thinking and self-talk to help young people overcome challenges. The program is facilitated by experienced youth workers and can take place within school or at EDYS. Sessions are delivered individually over six months, on a fortnightly or monthly basis depending on need. As part of the program, participants will complete a brief assessment with their coach to identify any barriers, as well as a goal-setting plan and strategies.
Engagement or Re-engagement Services
- Motivated Engagement Through Awareness (META)
This program addresses barriers related to stress, mental health and social/personal disconnection. This is an eight-week group workshop program targeted at high school students who are 'at risk' due ' to stress, mental health and social / personal disconnection. The program is facilitated by two experienced youth and social workers and can take place within school or at EDYS. These one hour sessions are delivered to a maximum of 10 young people over the course of eight weeks.
- Warrior Women
An empowering self-discovery program for teenage girls. This eight-week program combines group sessions and individual support. It's designed to increase knowledge and give tools and strategies for young women to develop resilience, find their essence, build identity and self-esteem and create a supportive community of caring and connected young women. Warrior Women is facilitated by two experienced youth and social workers and takes place within school. Sessions are delivered to a maximum of 10 young people over the course of eight weeks for 60 to 90 minutes each session.
A 10-week program using music, psychology and neuro-biology to promote reconnection. It explores relationships with an emphasis on teamwork and co-operation. This program aims to engage, connect, entertain and encourage creativity while reducing anxiety and stress. It covers themes such as self-responsibility, identity, values, emotional expression and peer pressure. Drumbeat is facilitated by two experienced Youth/Social Workers and can take place within school or at EDYS. One hour sessions are delivered to a maximum of ten young people, over a 10 week period.
Youth Work Services
- Engadine District Youth Services (EDYS)
This is a creative and relaxed space where 12 to 18 year olds can meet, socialise and express themselves in a safe and supportive environment. EDYS provides access to a range of activities and programs as well as experienced youth professionals who can provide assistance, information, resources and referrals. EDYS facilities include a drop-in space, music studio, multi-media facility and café. EDYS staff facilitate programs within the centre and schools, and deliver events and school holiday programs. EDYS also offers individual support to young people and families through their programs.

- EDYS Expression Initiative
This program aims to support young people to build resilience and strategies to navigate thoughts, feelings and emotions through creative outlets. It provides opportunities for young people to have creative outlets to express emotion and manage stress and anxiety in positive ways. Sessions are delivered at EDYS every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday afternoon and include art, music, mindfulness, meditation and yoga. EDYS centre and programs are supervised by experienced Social Work and Youth Professionals. EDYS services and programs can be delivered individually or within a group setting based on the program provided. EDYS programs take place at the Engadine Centre.

- The Baby and Me parenting group
This is a six-week program for new mums under the age of 24 or those expecting. The program explores the period between birth and six months and provides a nurturing and supportive experience to help new parents to connect with their baby. The Baby and Me program provides opportunity for young mums to share parenting experiences, coping strategies, meet new people and develop a supportive network. This helps them learn how to create healthy attachments to their child and better understand their baby’s social and development needs. New mothers are welcome to bring along their partner or support person, and are provided with lunch and nurturing in a safe and welcoming space. Baby and Me is facilitated by experienced professionals with backgrounds in nursing, youth and social work and parenting education. Facilitators are accredited in numerous evidence-based parenting and attachment programs. Baby and Me takes place twice per year in Term 2 and Term 4. The program is delivered over six weeks for two hours each session.
