Pre-apprenticeships and pre-traineeships
Thinking about taking an apprenticeship or traineeship but not sure if it's right for you? Enrol in an fee-free pre-apprenticeship or pre-traineeship course to see if it suits.
Under a pre-apprenticeship or pre-traineeship, you’ll undertake an introductory unit allowing you to get a taste of the trade or industry.
How much does it cost?
Approved courses are fee-free meaning you won’t have to pay anything. And if you decide it’s for you, then you're already on your way to studying for your full qualification.
To be eligible for a pre-apprenticeship or pre-traineeship, you need to:
- be 15 years old or over, and
- live or work in New South Wales, and
- be an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, Australian permanent humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen, and
- no longer be at school or equivalent (Note: A home schooled student is eligible). View the compulsory new school leaving age for NSW students.
