About National Skills Week
National Skills Week is an annual celebration dedicated to raising the profile and status of vocational education and training (VET) within your school community.
The week is about recognising and celebrating schools and student achievements, while showcasing the benefits of VET career pathways.
We encourage you to celebrate and promote skills and vocational learning activities in your school during National Skills Week.
This National Skills Week 25–31 August, we’re celebrating the power of VET and how it helps learners build bright futures across NSW.
Explore all the options – whether you’ve got a school-based apprentice and trainee (SBAT) superstar, an incredible VET teacher, or parents wanting to know more, this is your chance to shine a spotlight on skills.
Easy ways you can get involved
- Feature your SBATs, share their stories in your newsletter or on social media.
- Pop a Skills Week story or spotlight into your next school newsletter and show your community what VET looks like in action.
- Invite local trades, care workers, chefs, or digital pros to talk about their career journeys – this is a great way to link learning with real jobs.
- Give a shout out to your VET teachers or students on socials or at assembly.
- Highlight the critical skill areas, from care and clean energy to construction and digital, in class or at assembly.
- Host a ‘dress as your future skill’ day, fun, visual and a great convo starter for younger students.
- Run a session on VET pathways, show families how their kids can learn, earn and get job ready.
