Aboriginal Initiatives
The Elsa Dixon Aboriginal Employment Grant (EDAEG) supports young Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander learners by subsidising training and employment opportunities. Eligible NSW public service agencies, local government authorities and Aboriginal community-controlled organisation can apply for funding for a range of opportunities.
The OCHRE Hubs support Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander learners by providing clear pathways to employment opportunities and the confidence and knowledge to pursue them. The Hubs connect learners with employers and local opportunities, programs and resources to identify secure and sustainable job placements and consult with stakeholders to build community partnerships.
Smart and Skilled qualifications are subsidised by the NSW Government. Eligible Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students are entitled to fee-free government subsidised training in priority skill areas with approved training providers.
Employers can support eligible apprentices and trainees through Smart and Skilled.
Local Decision Making supports a positive change in the relationship between the government and Aboriginal communities in NSW. NSW Government agencies collaborate with Aboriginal Alliances/Assemblies to support community priorities, needs and aspirations around service delivery.
Local Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander community members and businesses can attend the Community Yarn to help shape what the service delivery should look like in initiatives and in the community.
