Submissions for this year's Game Changer Challenge closed on 22 June 2022.
What’s involved in the Game Changer Challenge?
The Game Changer Challenge is an award-winning design thinking challenge, open to all public schools across NSW and centres on exploring solutions for a real-world wicked problem.
A guide to Game Changer Challenge 2022
Step 1: Enter your school
Entries for the Game Changer Challenge 2022 have now closed. Teams selected for the semifinals have been announced.
Step 2: Build your team
Teams consist of five students and one teacher per team. Supervising teachers can be from any subject area. The primary category is for students from Years 3 to 6, the secondary category is for students from Years 7 to 12.
Schools can have more than one team, providing each student team member is different. One teacher can oversee multiple teams.
Step 3: Work through the playbooks and prepare your video submission
Playbook resources are available from our GCC2022 Teacher Hub on Google Classroom and guide teams through the first stages of the challenge.
The playbooks guide teachers and students through:
- The 2022 Wicked Problem
- GCC 2022 framework and principles
- GCC 2022 schedule
- Teacher Hub, resources and playbooks
- The design thinking canvases.
All teams will be required to prepare a 90 second video and 300 word supporting statement after working through the playbooks at school.
Video submissions should pitch the research teams have conducted and the evidence collected about the local issue each team will focus on and its connection to the global goal.
Step 4: Submit your video application
Submit your 90 second video application, 300 word written statement and details of your team(s). Video submissions closed on 22 June 2022.
Step 5: Semifinals
The teams selected to participate in the semifinals have been announced.
Virtual semifinals will take place in Term 3.
Step 6: Grand final
Semifinalists will participate in the grand final in Term 4.
