Individual Support (Ageing) – Certificate III

This qualification reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. Work in Aged Care involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs.

This school based traineeship will suit students with a strong interest in the Aged Care sector. Certificate III level reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centred support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason.

Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centred support.

Outcome on completion of your HSC

  • Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) CHC33015 in CHC Community Services Training Package.
  • A career path into the Community Care Services industry.
  • Articulation into a traineeship for Certificate IV in Ageing Support CHC43015.

Course delivery

  • On the job and off the job and can be delivered face-to-face, flexibly or mixed mode.
  • The SBT term is calculated in months from the date of commencement to 31 December of the HSC year.

Commitment required

  • Undertake a minimum of 100 days in paid employment plus the formal training to complete the qualification.
  • Undertake Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) in CHC Community Services Training Package.
  • The employment and training can be undertaken during school time, after school and during school holidays.

How will you be assessed?

  • Both on the job and off the job through written tests, project work and practical exercises.

This optional course recognises the significant work component involved in the school based apprenticeship.

The course offers an additional 4 units credit towards your HSC.

This HSC VET course does not contribute towards the calculation of the ATAR.
