Hairdressing – Certificate III
Apprentices employed as hairdressers use a range of well-developed sales, consultation and technical skills and knowledge to provide a broad range of hairdressing services to clients. They use discretion and judgement to provide client services. On-site supervisors are to review and approve apprentices work and are responsible for all services conducted by the apprentice. This qualification provides a pathway to work as a hairdresser in any industry environment, usually a salon.

The Certificate III in Hairdressing develops the practical and technical skills required by apprentice hairdressers, and the underpinning knowledge needed to apply those skills in a hairdressing workplace.

They use discretion and judgement to provide client services and take responsibility for the outcomes of their work. This qualification provides a pathway to work as a hairdresser in any industry environment, usually a salon.
Outcome on completion of your HSC
- Statement of Competencies Achieved for Certificate III in Hairdressing SHB30416 in SHB Hairdressing and Beauty Services Training Package.
- A career path in the Hairdressing trade.
- Continuation in the Hairdressing apprenticeship full time post school.
Course delivery
- Will be delivered both on the job and off the job.
- Two years part time during school, followed by two years full time post-school in both on and off the job training.
Commitment required
- Undertake a minimum of 100 days in paid employment during school plus the formal training required for the qualification.
- Undertake Certificate III Hairdressing, and complete Stage 1 of this qualification by the end of your HSC.
- The employment and training can be undertaken during school time, after school and during school holidays.
How will you be assessed?
Both on the job and off the job through written tests, project work and practical exercises.
