Diploma in Project Management

Mathew is a huge advocate for the VET approach to learning, and for him it has provided the perfect balance between study and work.

I would describe the quality of my training as first class and indicative of the high standards set by undertaking a VET course.

Mathew's biography

Mathew is a huge advocate for the VET approach to learning, and for him it has provided the perfect balance between study and work.

“The advantage I have found in undertaking VET studies in comparison to university studies is how fast you can apply what you are learning into your workplace, and how practical the courses are. Having experienced learning in both arenas, I have found the VET experience to be more topical, informative and more easily adaptable to my employment and life in general,” says Mathew.

Mathew was offered the Diploma of Project Management as part of a training program through his employer, The Disability Trust. Already an accomplished leader with his former employer, McDonalds, Mathew was keen to develop his key strengths further with a formal qualification.

“I have long had ambition to pursue a career in business development and consultancy in which you are able to objectively look at problems facing a business and find workable solutions that implement efficiencies in the way they do things.”

“Project-based work and problem solving are two of my strong points, and I felt that a formal qualification to highlight these traits would be great for my future career path.”

Mathew’s training has made a huge impact on efficiency at The Disability Trust, with Mathew implementing many valuable changes within the business.

“For my first 2 years I worked in the payroll department and I was able to take the lead in various projects around creating efficiencies in our processing. During this time I worked closely with other stakeholders across the organisation and within our team to create change which improved our processes and reduced workload for everyone.”

When asked to describe his training, Mathew says it was “exceptional”.

“The attention to detail by the student advisor, and the realistic approach to study through case studies and practical examples were what enabled me to easily apply the theories and knowledge taught into the real world and apply these to my workplace.”
