First school trial

“This is a great opportunity to explore future pathways.” Rory, Year 9

School trial Term 3 2022

Careers NSW conducted their first trial of career guidance services for schools in Term 3 2022. 32 NSW Government secondary schools throughout NSW were selected to trial the Careers NSW school services.

Consultation with a wide range of stakeholders identified the below services which were delivered as part of the first trial:

  • group careers exploration sessions for years 7-8 students (both target and non-targeted, in-person services)
  • individual student appointments with a careers practitioner
  • individual parent/guardian information discussions with a careers practitioner
  • connection with industry experts through the Regional Industry Educational Partnerships (RIEP) Team

A thorough review of the trial was conducted with results, feedback and lessons learned. The results of this review will inform the Terms 2-3 2023 school trial.
