The Preschool Handbook (PDF 7.2MB) provides detailed advice for staff, principals and supervisors to support the management and operation of department preschools.
Departmental policies, procedures and guidelines (NSW Department of Education intranet) relate to both the school and the preschool and meet national regulations.
Preschools may develop additional procedures to support the implementation of policies for a local setting. Policies should be available for access by all staff, volunteers and families.
Department policies, procedures and guidelines have been categorised into the following areas of the National Quality Standard to assist preschool staff.
- children's health and safety
- staffing arrangements
- relationships with children
- leadership and management
