Updated the implementation document School Excellence Procedure (PDF 294 KB) to clarify the needs-based funding and school development review process. See sections 3.2, 8.2 and 8.5.

Updated the implementation document NSW Public School Leadership and Management Credential – Guidelines (PDF 162 KB) to provide greater clarity and consistency with current practice.

It is now an implementation document for the School Leadership policy and a related document for the Professional Learning for Teachers and School Staff policy.

Updated the Beginning Teachers Support Funding policy statement to specify that School Workforce directorate is responsible for transferring any remaining funding when a permanent teacher moves to another school or a temporary teacher ceases. Previously the school was responsible for transferring funds.

Updated the Child Protection: Allegations Against Employees policy statement and its implementation document Responding to allegations against employees in the area of child protection(PDF 391 KB) to:

  • align with legislative changes that are in operation
  • simplify the language and processes
  • refer to the Children’s Guardian’s definitions rather than reproducing them within the procedures.

Retired the implementation document ‘Procedures for the Local Management of Less Serious Allegations in the Area of Child Protection Against DET Employees’ as the process no longer applies.

This is a new policy as the department is required to have an appropriate Asset Management Framework, in line with the NSW Treasury Policy TPP 19-07.

The Nutrition in Schools policy statement will be updated in mid Term 4 to:

  • remove dates relating to the Healthy School Canteen transition period, which has now concluded
  • add information for preschools to reflect current practice
  • improve clarity and coherence for school staff.

Applicability date

The update will be published in mid Term 4 2021.

The Voluntary School Contribution policy statement and the associated Code of Practice will be updated in Week 7 of Term 4 to provide greater clarity and guidance for principals and school communities. 

How does this affect policy implementation?

There will be no implementation changes required for schools. Schools are reminded that they must not use terms that imply voluntary school contributions are mandatory, for example fee, charge or levy.
