Corruption Prevention Policy

This policy mandates that all staff have a responsibility for the mitigation of fraud and corruption within their area of responsibility.

1. Policy statement

1.1

This policy mandates that all staff have a responsibility for the mitigation of fraud and corruption within their area of responsibility.

2. Audience and applicability

2.1

This policy applies to all Department of Education staff.

2.2

The audience for this policy includes all departmental staff, students, parents, care-givers and the community.

3. Context

3.1

The department’s Corruption Prevention Policy is based on Standards Australia AS8001-2008 Fraud and Corruption Control and incorporates the ten attributes of fraud control contained in the NSW Auditor-General Better Practice Guide Fraud Control Improvement Kit (2006).

3.2

This policy falls under the auspices of the department’s Code of Conduct.

4. Responsibilities and delegations

4.1

The Secretary, NSW Department of Education, senior executives, senior officers, principals, managers and supervisors are responsible for the effective management of corruption prevention.

4.2

The Fraud and Corruption Control Procedures associated with this policy set out the specific responsibilities for individual staff, groups of staff and committees.

4.3

All staff need to be aware of their responsibility to comply with the Fraud and Corruption Control Procedures, including mandatory reporting requirements, and act in a manner which promotes fairness, respect, integrity and responsibility, and encourages the reporting of corrupt conduct.

5. Monitoring, evaluation and reporting requirements

5.1

All senior executives, senior officers, principals, managers and supervisors are responsible for monitoring and evaluating the operation of this policy within their area of responsibility.
