Our funded school initiatives

Initiative 1

Employment of an additional Instructional Leader to work in partnership with an Early Action for Success Instructional Leader to build a culture of excellence in teaching through staff professional learning, analysis of student data, classroom learning walks, feedback and support to teachers in using effective teaching strategies.

Impact and achievements

Coaching and mentoring of teachers resulting in student growth in writing, reading and numeracy. The percentage of Year 3 and Year 5 students achieving in the top two bands of NAPLAN reading increased in 2018. Year 3 and Year 5 NAPLAN reading scores have increased and are above statistically similar schools in 2018. The school is excelling in value adding K-3.

Initiative 2

Employment of a Deputy Principal to lead student attendance, behaviour and wellbeing initiatives, including Positive Behaviour for Learning.

Impact and achievements

Communication and effective wellbeing and administrative systems have been enhanced. The school is working more effectively in partnership with a range of community members and support agencies. School wide consistent approaches to student discipline and wellbeing. Teachers are implementing proactive strategies rather than reactive strategies to manage student behaviour.

Initiative 3

Employment of a learning and support teacher for each learning stage to work with the school’s Instructional Leaders to implement explicit tiered interventions for individuals and small groups of students.

Impact and achievements

Increased support and capacity of teachers and improved student learning outcomes in Literacy and Numeracy as indicated in PLAN 2 and NAPLAN data. Excelling in effective classroom and collaborative practice.

Initiative 4

Employment of a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Coordinator to mentor, support and provide team teaching to build staff capacity.

Impact and achievements

Staff capacity has been built to continue teaching using enquiry based and project based learning increasing students’ skills, curiosity and understanding.
