“I’m pleased to announce a leader of Mr Faurby’s caliber to guide TAFE NSW, which I want to make the gold standard of vocational education and training,” Mr Lee said.

“The NSW Government is 100 percent committed to TAFE NSW remaining a comprehensive public education provider that delivers for our students, teachers and industry.

“Mr Faurby’s appointment will ensure resources are prioritised for frontline teaching and delivery.”

Mr Faurby will commence his position on 13 January 2020. The statutory appointment is for five years.

Mr Faurby is currently employed as CEO of State Transit Authority of NSW. Prior to this, he was the CEO of Harbour City Ferries. Mr Faurby has 29 years of global experience in building high-performing teams and a strong record of accomplishment in delivering complex projects.

“I am excited to take up the role of TAFE NSW MD as it is a great chance to work with the community, industry and educators to provide the best vocational training for NSW students,” Mr Faurby said.

“TAFE NSW has a proud history and is of huge importance to local industries and economies. I am especially impressed by the range of courses on offer, particularly what is available in regional NSW. I’m focused on how we can enhance this during my tenure so we can best meet the needs of more remote parts of the state.”

Mr Faurby is a graduate of Macquarie University, Copenhagen Business School, Aarhus College of Engineering and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Mr Lee also commended TAFE NSW Acting Managing Director Kerry Penton for her leadership of the organisation over the past five months.

“I’m pleased to announce Ms Penton will continue her distinguished career at TAFE NSW by returning to the role of Acting Chief Delivery Officer in 2020. I thank her for her excellent stewardship of TAFE NSW,” Mr Lee said.

Ms Penton said she welcomed Mr Faurby on behalf of TAFE NSW.

“I look forward to working with him to deliver on the NSW Government’s strategy for a strong and vibrant TAFE NSW,” Ms Penton said.

“As a proud supporter of public education, I take great pride in being part of the leadership team which will continue to position TAFE NSW as an innovative, flexible and responsive provider of training that supports the diverse communities of our state.”
