Girraween PS non-operational Tuesday 1 & Wednesday 2 September

Girraween Public School will be non-operational Tuesday 1 and Wednesday 2 September 2020 due to a student testing positive for COVID-19.

Girraween Public School will become non-operational this afternoon, Tuesday 1 September 2020. The OOSH will also be non-operational during this time.

We request that parents and carers who have students attending Camp Australia OOSH this afternoon make arrangements to come and collect their children. Staff will remain at the school while students are being collected.

The department has been advised by NSW Health that a student has tested positive for COVID-19. The school will be non-operational tomorrow, Wednesday 2 September, for the on-site attendance of staff and students to allow time for the school to complete the contact tracing process and have the school cleaned. The OOSH will also be non-operational tomorrow.

All staff and students are asked to self-isolate while contact tracing occurs.

While we recognise this will be disruptive and inconvenient for many families, it is important that we follow NSW Health advice and take all necessary precautions to minimise the risk of further transmission to support our community.

While the school site is non-operational, learning materials are available through the department’s Learning from home website.

NSW Health has requested anyone who has been unwell or if you develop any symptoms such as a fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, runny nose, loss of smell/taste, muscle/joint pains, diarrhoea, nausea/vomiting or extreme tiredness to be tested at one of the COVID-19 clinics.

Further advice will be provided tomorrow advising when the school will resume on-site learning.

Further information on COVID 19 is available on the NSW Health website. If you have any education-related questions please contact 1300 338 679.

The safety and wellbeing of our staff and students is of paramount importance to us at all times. As such we will continue to work closely with NSW Health to ensure that all necessary health advice is adhered to.

Thank you for your ongoing support.
