Girraween PS, Double Bay PS and Parkes PS all operational Thursday 3/9
Following NSW Health advice, all 3 schools will continue on-campus operations as scheduled.
NSW Health has advised that a second staff member at Double Bay Public School has tested positive for COVID-19. As the staff member has been in self-isolation and has not been at school while infectious, NSW Health has confirmed no further action is required and on-campus learning will continue as scheduled.
At Girraween Public School a second student has tested positive to COVID-19. The student has been in self-isolation and NSW Health is supporting the family. Girraween Public School has been thoroughly cleaned and will resume on-campus learning tomorrow, Thursday 3 September 2020.
Following community enquiries, a statement was shared with the Parkes Public School community advising there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 at the school.
The NSW Department of Education and NSW Health have been working closely to ensure the health and safety of all students and staff is maintained. This work has included identifying close contacts of any confirmed case and communicating directly with them regarding their requirement to self-isolate.
Any students and staff identified as close contacts of confirmed cases are notified and asked to self-isolate for the required period and not return to school until this time has elapsed.
Schools will be vigilant in implementing infection control procedures, including daily cleaning in accordance with normal protocols, the promotion of healthy hygiene habits and will continue to make hand sanitiser available for staff and students to use while at school.
The safety and wellbeing of our staff and students is of paramount importance to us at all times. As such we will continue to work closely with NSW Health to ensure that all necessary health advice is adhered to.
Further information on COVID-19 is available on the NSW Health website. If you have any education-related questions please contact 1300 338 679.
