Warren Central School student, Dusty Langby, has officially set off on a 500km journey, in a bid to raise awareness and funds for paediatric care for kids in the bush.
Dusty hit the road from Warren on August 30, 2026, to begin a 16-day trek to raise money for Little Wings, a not-for-profit organisation that provides support to children in regional and remote areas.
With the journey set to wrap up in the nation's capital, Dusty plans to meet with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese upon his arrival.
Dusty said he had set a goal of raising one million dollars which would go towards helping children get prompt access to the healthcare they deserve.
“Because I’ve seen what happens when you get help, and I’ve seen what happens when you have to wait; I don’t want country kids to feel forgotten,” he said.
“I might only be 11 but I know that where you live shouldn’t decide if you get the help you need. Dusty’s Mission is for my brother. It’s for the kids in my school. It’s for families who are trying their best. It’s going to be a long walk. But I’m ready.”
With $100,000 raised already - enough to fund a doctor's travel to five rural communities for a year – Dusty has seen that change already start to take shape.
Support for Dusty’s cause has been pouring in from across the country, with Australian actor Chris Hemsworth giving a shout out to Dusty and his mission.
“Good luck Dusty, it’s a great thing you’re doing mate, and I’m proud of you – keep it up,” Mr Hemsworth said.
Newcastle Knights player and Warren Central School alumni, Fletcher Hunt, also pledged his support during a visit to the school, and donated a pair of football boots, signed with a personal message of encouragement.
