The University of the Arts London (UAL)  took its recruiting program to the NSW regions for the first time this year.

Its established visits to Sydney and Melbourne were augmented this year with a trip to Newcastle High School , where 2017 HSC Visual Arts students from the Hunter were interviewed.

UAL is one of the world’s leading arts universities with alumni including Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, Ralph Fiennes and Jimmy Choo.

The NSW Education Standards Authority asked Newcastle High School to host the UAL visit because a former student was offered a place.

Lynda Doyle from UAL said NSW HSC students are well prepared for the courses offered in London.

“What the students learn, how they are taught and the level of creativity and insight evident in their projects mean we are able to make on the spot offers,” Ms Doyle said.

UAL was planning to interview about 60 students during its February metropolitan and regional visits.
