The new four-year public school planning cycle announced today will provide better support to NSW public schools on their improvement journey.
Minister for Education and Early Childhood Learning Sarah Mitchell, Secretary Mark Scott and Deputy Secretaries School Performance Murat Dizdar and Cathy Brennan outlined the updated planning cycle in a live stream to all school staff.
School improvement is at the heart of what we do and is a continuous process, centred on supporting the growth and achievement of every student in every classroom.
The current school planning cycle concludes this year with schools to begin planning now to develop a new Strategic Improvement Plan to commence at the end of Term 1 next year.
The strategic improvement planning process helps schools identify what they are doing well and what they can improve on. Schools set and prioritise goals aimed at improving student learning, growth and wellbeing.
The strategic improvement plan is underpinned by the School Excellence Framework which identifies quality practice across the areas of learning, teaching and leading.
Every school will be supported in the process with new planning templates, sample plans and resources to guide the implementation of the school planning cycle.
Online reporting tools have been updated to provide greater functionality and a simplified user experience.
The school planning process will contribute to the department’s goals in the strategic plan so that every student, every teacher, every leader and every school improves every year.
