Three NSW public high school principals will brave chilly temperatures in Sydney tonight for the 2025 Vinnies CEO Sleepout.

Fort Street High principal Juliette McMurray, Sydney Girls High principal Rachel Powell and Canterbury Girls High principal Rebecca Cameron have teamed together to fundraise for the charity.

The trio have raised more than $27,000 for Vinnies and homelessness.

It is the fourth year Ms McMurray has participated in the Sleepout and the second year for Ms Cameron.

Ms McMurray said the Sleepout was an eye-opening experience with important lessons she was able to take back to her students.

“We’re always telling students we want them to be responsible citizens and to give back to the world,” Ms McMurray said.

“So, really learning about what other people are going through and that this is something that can happen to anyone.

“Also, that they are in a position to potentially be able to help and make a difference to people’s lives.”

Ms Cameron said she hoped to set an example for her students by participating in the event.

“It takes you out of your comfort zone,” she said.

“I think it’s really important for our students to see us have those experiences, being able to walk the walk, if we’re expecting them to show empathy and build those skills.”

This is the 20th year of the Vinnies CEO Sleepout.

Hundreds of CEOs, business owners, as well as community and government leaders, sleep outdoors to support the many Australians who are experiencing homelessness and people at risk of homelessness.
