Barrenjoey High School’s newest cohort of Year 7 students has started their secondary school journey with the lighthouse walk at Palm Beach.

An annual tradition at the school, the 147 students, along with 40 Year 10 Peer Support leaders, made the climb on Friday 13 February.

Principal Brett Blaker said the walk is more than just a physical challenge.

“The lighthouse walk symbolises the beginning of a six-year journey defined by growth, resilience and connection,” he said.

In a powerful full-circle tradition, students will return to complete a sunrise Lighthouse Walk again in their final week of Year 12, marking both the beginning and the culmination of their time at Barrenjoey High School.

Standing together at the top, overlooking Pittwater and the Northern Beaches, students captured a whole-cohort photo and shared in the excitement of what lies ahead.

“Our Year 10 leaders ran engaging peer support activities during the day to build friendships and confidence, creating teamwork and new connections,” Mr Blaker said.
